German Bobe

Born 1963 - Santiago Chile

Chilean artist German Bobe has lived and studied in Argentina, the United States, France, Italy, and Libya. The cosmopolitan artist remains concerned with the dilemma of “how to be happy in Chile.” He explores the question in experimental videos by evoking the nation’s social and political conflicts without narrative or commentary. He mingles classic images with the baroque and kitsch, arriving at a glorious confusion of postmodern aesthetics and social consciousness. In addition to video, Bobe works in photography, painting, performance, and film.
