Mickey R Mahoney

Mickey R. Mahoney is a Full Professor, Adj., in the Department of Film, Video, New Media, and Animation; and the Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism, at SAIC. He developed and teaches, Queer Pictures and Trans Pictures, FVNMA cinema classes offered in Art History, Theory, and Criticism.

Mahoney’s short films, Midwestern Hospitality, Acrobats and Sword-swallowers, The Undergrad, and Traverse City, have screened in the US and internationally. In addition, he was a Director, Actor, and Creative Consultant on the Showtime TV series Work In Progress (2019-2022), and a Creative Consultant on the Netflix documentary, Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen (2020).
