VDB welcomes intern George Price

Its widely known that, like America itself, the Video Data Bank shares a "special relationship" with the United Kingdom.   This winter we're excited to welcome from the UK George William Price as our newest intern, visiting from University of Arts, London.  George will be with us throughout February and March and will be working to catalog, scan and generally revive some of our archival print material.  If you stop into the office please say hello.

George is a BA Hons student at the University of the Arts London, studying Fine Art (Print and Time Based Media) and he is especially interested in queer theory and queer aesthetics.  Identifying with video and performance artists such as Jack Smith and Ryan Trecartin and contextualising his work through the writings of various academics such as Lee Edelman, Tim Dean and Chicago’s very own Lauren Berlant.  George hopes to challenge and subvert the current assimilation of homosexual culture into heterosexual society, utilising anything from drag performance and writing to online social experiments and hand-processed Super 8 film shorts.
